ABOUT YOGA

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. The main components of yoga are postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility) and breathing. Nowadays we know yoga does more than that:
We already know it improves flexibility & builds muscle strength which are pretty important in the world of a healthy functioning human body. Yoga has however also been shown to perfect posture, prevent cartilage and joint breakdown, protect your spine, better your bones, increase blood flow, drain your lymph nodes, boost immunity, decrease blood pressure, regulate your adrenal glands, lower blood sugar levels, help you focus, relax your system, improve your balance, maintain your nervous system, release tension, aid sleep, prevent IBS and digestive problems, give inner strength and peace of mind and encourage self care.

JJK YOGA

JJK is a well established personal training centre that has been running yoga classes for 2 years. The increase in demand for yoga and the increase in awareness of the benefits of yoga have lead to a brand new yoga studio being born.

There are so many different styles of yoga that can cater for and benefit everyone and it is our belief that yoga is an essential practice for a sound body and mind!
We noticed there is nothing quite like it in the area and it is very much needed. Our vision is to create a community enabling people to come together.

WHICH LEVEL IS SUITABLE FOR YOU?

YOGA LEVEL  DESCRIPTION
BEGINNERS Ideal if you have never tried yoga, are not confident in your ability or prefer to take things slowly.
INTERMEDIATE Suitable for all those who are comfortable with the basics and ready to challenge themselves a little more!
ADVANCED For those who like a challenge and are ready to work towards more difficult Yoga positions.
OPEN Suitable for all levels

OUR YOGA TEACHERS

FAYE

Faye is a qualified Hot Hatha 500 hour trained yoga instructor and teaches yoga both in the UK and abroad.
Faye has been teaching at JJK since September 2016 and is our Yoga studio manager.  
Also a Personal Trainer and Massage Therapist, Faye has a love of anatomy and physiology and a passion for strengthening the body and mind through yoga.  

STEVE

Steve’s style is a blend of thoughtful and playful. He believes that every pose offers a chance to find something new, so his teaching focuses on details and refinements which help students make the most of everything. He also believes that play is a great teacher, so he encourages students to challenge themselves in a fun, but safe, way. As a teacher with years of experience, Steve’s classes incorporate elements from many styles of Yoga, so he can tailor classes to suit every level of student – and throw in the occasional surprise

KAS

Kas started practicing yoga in 2004. She attended Hatha yoga classes on and off over the years and thoroughly enjoyed the benefits of  regular yoga. To deepen her knowledge of yoga asanas’ (poses) and pranayama (breathing techniques), Kas decided to train as a Hatha yoga teacher in 2014. Having trained with Feel Hot Yoga and becoming a yoga alliance registered teacher, Kas has also completed yin/yang with mindfulness meditation training. 

For Kas, Yoga is about becoming connected and aware of your true self. Kas sees yoga as building a relationship with your mind and body and allowing them both to communicate with each other with awareness and respect. 

KATEY

Fitness has always been a part of Katey’s life – for years Katey was purely a regular gym, bootcamp and spin attendee. Katey used to believe that yoga wasn’t for her because she thought it would be ‘too slow’ and ‘not her style’…

When training for the London Marathon, Katey was advised to practice some yoga to help her overworked muscles. She reluctantly agreed and was pleasantly surprised, willingly going back every week. From there, Katey began taking classes at a hot yoga studio which is where she really fell in love. Move over treadmill! Katey quickly understood the power of yoga and remaining on one mat for just one hour.

Katey has completed the Yoga Alliance accredited 500 Hour Teacher Training Diploma and has been teaching ever since – completely changing her career.

Katey’s goal for every class she teaches is to help people feel more open, stronger and lighter on their feet. But most importantly, for them to leave with a smile on their face and wanting more.

TAWNY CORTES

Tawny has been practicing yoga for 12 years and has been teaching since 2014. Tawny’s teaching style has evolved from her extensive work in the fitness industry, as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, along with in-depth yoga training with focus on alignment.

Her style is supportive and inclusive, allowing students to explore their own unique experience of being in the body. By cultivating an awareness of breath – coupled with healthy alignment and intelligent sequencing – Tawny guides students to work-in, to let go of self-judgment and create space to feel, explore and connect with the true essence of their being.

Tawny teaches Hatha, Vinyasa Flow and Restorative yoga and is currently completing her 300 hour Advanced Teacher Training with London’s leading yoga studio Triyoga.
